40 Domestic workers arrested in Muscat

The Ministry of Manpower’s Joint Inspection Team, arrested 54 expat workers for violating the provisions of the Labor Law, including 40 domestic workers, from Seeb, Al Khuwair and Qurum.

“This campaign comes as part of the Ministry of Manpower’s efforts to regulate the labor market, follow-up the implementation of the provisions of the Labor Law and the ministerial decrees implemented by it, and ensure that the non-Omani workforce is working with employers authorized to work for them,” said Salem al Badi.

He appealed to the employers to ensure that their non-Omani workers are allowed to work in accordance with the licenses granted to them, not to allow them to work with others and to return them to their countries at the end of the employment relationship after ensuring that all their financial dues are handed over.

Noting that the employers of the arrested workers should meet the inspection team in Muscat during working hours at the earliest and present the requisite documents to complete the rest of the formalities.
