The need of air-conditioned bus stop

New bus stops are being built to the streets that will soon be a regular route of the Mwasalat bus. We have seen this new bus stops along Al Khuwair 33 and 18th November Street.

Unfortunately, it is only a bare sign of bus stop, no shaded structure at all. Now, come to imagine when this new route will be operational and the soaring heat of the sun will reach to 40+ degrees Celsius during daytime. Will it be convenient to someone who wait for the bus and endure the burning sun? This is Middle East.

Yesterday, Mwasalat has signed an agreement with Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company (Al Maha) to build a solar-powered AC bus stop in Ghubra in Muscat governorate.

Mwasalat stated that Al Maha will have the exclusive rights for promotion and advertising at the bus stop.

The five-year agreement is worth RO125,000.

“The signing of this agreement comes within the framework of Mawasalat’s keenness to promote the sector and develop its services, as well as seeking alternatives and options to support public transport services, which will greatly contribute to reducing reliance on government support for the sector,” Mwasalat said in the statement.

Hope to see all the bus stops in Muscat to have this air-conditioned facility.
