Bobby Pacquiao, brother of boxing icon and Senator Manny Pacquiao, is eyeing a seat in the House of Representatives under the OFW Family Club party-list.
In a short interview with reporters after filing his certificate of nomination and acceptance with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Bobby said he feels the sentiments of overseas Filipino workers. (OFWs)
“Isa rin akong OFW, lumalaban ako sa US saka alam ko rin, naramdaman ko rin ‘yung mga OFW natin kaya tulungan natin ano mang problema,” Bobby, also a boxer, said.
Bobby is not new in politics as he had won in the 2016 national election as councilor of General Santos City.
Manny, who accompanied his brother during the filing, said existing laws are not enough to protect the rights of Filipinos working abroad.
“Pure OFW Family party-list.
Manny also acknowledged the contribution of OFWs to the Philippine economy.
“Napakalaking bagay ang naitulong ng ating mga OFW especially pagdating sa ekonomiya, sila ang malaking bahagi na naitulong sa ating ekonomiya,” the senator said.
