Commercial activities that will reopen from August 18 in Oman

International and tourist restaurants inside hotels will be allowed to operate starting from Tuesday (18, August 2020) according to a new decision by the Supreme Committee to Combat COVID-19.

However, Shisha and alcoholic drinks are not allowed to be served while food courts at shopping malls will remain closed.

Gyms and swimming pools inside hotels will also be open for business starting from tomorrow, while Souq Muttrah, Oman’s most popular traditional market in Muscat will also finally reopen to visitors tomorrow.

The announcement marks the fifth batch of businesses that are allowed to operate, and will also allow the printing of newspapers and magazines to begin again.



Other business which will be allowed to operate include:

  • Some sport stadiums for training purposes
  • Phone Sim card selling shops
  • Interior car wash services
  • Tobacco shops
  • Camping equipment shops, including shops that tailor and fix tents.
