DOH confirms first case of coronavirus in the Philippines

Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque confirmed Thursday that the Philippines now has its first case of 2019 novel coronavirus. The patient who tested positive for #nCoV is 38-year-old female Chinese who have arrived in the Philippines from Wuhan, China, via Hong Kong last January 21, 2020.

The patient sought consult and was admitted in one of PH’s government hospital on January 25 after experiencing mild cough. She is currently asymptomatic, which means she has no fever, no signs and symptoms suggesting illness at this point.

All necessary measures are being taken to contain the virus – DOH.
