The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) are now preparing for the opening of the country’s first hospital for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a Facebook post on April 1, DOLE announced that it has recently met with PGH doctors and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) officials to prepare for OFW Hospital’s inauguration.
“In preparation for the opening of the OFW Hospital, the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine General Hospital, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration hold an organizational meeting at the DOLE Central Office in Intramuros, Manila on March 25.
The OFW Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga will be inaugurated on May 1, Labor Day.
Doctors from PGH discussed the hospital operational plan and oriented the newly hired personnel composed of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, radiologists, medical technicians, and human resource staff.
Early this year, DOLE and PGH joined forces to oversee the first-ever OFW hospital in the Philippines.
