DOT will reward OFWs and balikbayans who bring relative and friends back to the Philippines

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is providing incentives to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and balikbayans (returning Filipinos) who bring relatives, friends, or acquaintances home with them.

The move, according to DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, is part of the government’s efforts to boost the tourism industry.

According to Frasco, the “Bisita, Be My Guest Program” that she is promoting is not the current tourism slogan.

“This is not the Philippines’ new tourism slogan, as some have claimed. Instead, this is a guest incentive program,” she explained.

According to Frasco, they will provide incentives to OFWs and returning Filipinos who can bring at least one or two companions with them when they return to the country.

“This is intended to invite and benefit OFWs who bring home a relative or a friend to the Philippines, with raffle prizes, discounts, and privileges for them as they tour around the country,” she said.

According to Frasco, the new tourism slogan “Bisita, Be My Guest” is currently being reviewed in the hopes that it will positively evolve and reflect the strength and richness of Filipino identity as a “Filipino Brand.”

Frasco also described herself as a listening secretary, concluding her letter with, “I welcome all of your comments and opinions, and I am learning from them.” I value your opinion because we are all invested in the success of tourism and our country.”
