Be careful what you share and post in social media or online, you might be invading a person’s private or family life by taking photos, publishing news or audio-visual records online will lead to three years in jail and a fine of OMR 5,000, Oman’s Public Prosecution said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued, Public Prosecution said insulting and slandering an individual is an offence. “Using the Internet or means of information such as cell phones with a built in camera to invade the private or personal familial life of individuals by taking photos or publishing news or audiovisual records in connection to that even if they are true or by insulting and slandering others is an offense punishable by imprisonment for a period that extends to three years and a fine that ranges to OMR 5,000 or by either one of these two sentences,” Public Prosecution said
