Few years ago, nung mga 6 months palang ako dito sa Oman, I told my colleague sa hospital, “Three years lang ako sa abroad and then uuwi na ako for good.”
Ang hirap mag for good.”
I was irritated the way he responded.
Three years later. Here’s the HORRIBLE thing that happened.
Wala akong ipon.
May loan pa na 2 years to pay.
May utang sa credit card.
Which means yung 3 years ko na plan na umuwi BOKYA! WALEY!
I was recollecting yung sabi ko na three years lang ako but I don’t have the power to go home. I HAVE mountain of BILLS at UTANG to pay.
I read so many suggestions and first thing na natutunan ko is embracing personal development. Sabi ko wala naman sigurong mawawala if I embraced personal development. I prayed to God to redirect me. And then I started writing my goals again and made the commitment to sacrifice and embrace discipline para may mabago sa buhay ko.
But I embraced personal commitment to really move forward. Lahat ng books about financial literacy, goal setting, success principles, etc., binasa ko lahat yon because I really wanted to experience a change in my life abroad.
Few years later, I was able to get back up. Nakatayo ulit. Nakapagsimula ng maliliit na negosyo. Unti unting nabayaran ang mga utang and now I can already live and survive in the Philippines.
Here’s what I learned and I want to preach this to you: KUNG GUSTO MONG MAY MABAGO SA BUHAY MO, KAILANGAN MAY BAGUHIN KA SA MGA HABITS MO.
Change will only come, if you change your mindset and your actions.
Then GALAW GALAW!
Madami akong nakakausap na kapwa ko OFWs and karamihan sa kanila gusto na nilang umuwi ng Pilipinas at makasama ang asawa or anak nila. IT IS POSSIBLE. BUT IT IS ALSO DIFFICULT.
My journey and my success in my stint here abroad are embedded in a SHORT EBOOK entitled, “HANGGANG KAILAN KA SA ABROAD? Five tips paano makapag for good sa Pilipinas.” And I am giving it all away for free. I hope you take advantage of the gem I have written in my book.
