This post is dedicated to those OFWs who became an instant ATM nung nag abroad sila.
Yes, we would love to help those who are in need, if kaya namin. But let tell you that we also have a family to feed and bills to pay.
Don’t get us wrong if we can’t say yes to all of your requests. Hindi lahat ng nasa abroad mayaman. The worst of all, karamihan ng nag abroad lalo pang nalubog sa mga utang because of many factors. Andyan na ang mga financial moves na maling mali, nag upgrade agad ng lifestyles, nag loan, kumuha ng mga liabilities na buwan buwan binabayaran. The next time you get angry or irritated towards them, kapag hindi kayo napagbigyan sa mga gusto nyo, pakiisipin na madami din silang mga iniisip at mga bina-budget.
My 10 cents below.
1. Huwag magalit kapag hindi napahiraman. Hindi sa lahat ng oras may pera sila. Like I’ve said, madaming mga bills na nagpapatong patong. I am sure, kapag meron, they will make a way to help. Pero kapag wala, pakiintindi na lang.
2. Huwag magtampo kapag hindi nailibre. Usapang libre lagi especially kapag annual leave. Ang priority nila kapag umuuwi is to be with their family. And of course bilang kaibigan is to see you also. Don’t question them kung wala silang pasalubong sayo or kung ayaw mo ang pasalubong nila.
3. Huwag kalimutan ang pagkakaibigan dahil lang sa pera. Ako noon, nung nasa pilipinas palang ako, I wanted to see my friends na nasa abroad para maka kwentuhan. I don’t care kung manlibre sila or not. As long as I see them. I think real friendship is never about money at all.
4. Huwag isipin na mayabang na sila at kinalimutan kana. Minsan hindi ka lang napagbigyan sa gusto mo eh iisipin mo na na mayabang sila at nakalimutan kana. People change kumbaga. But I firmly believe na kailangan lagi ng pangunawa.
5. Huwag puro about pera kapag nagmemessage, minsan, naghihintay din sila ng mga salitang, “Kumusta kana?” “Sana ok ka lang.” Or someone to talk to pag madami silang stress sa abroad.
This post is dedicated to all OFWs like me, who are still grinding and striving para maka survive sa lahat ng mga financial difficulties and journey towards success overseas.
