Ministerial decision on preventive measures to tackle spread of Coronavirus

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Al Saidi, Minister of Health, has issued a Ministerial Decision No. 48/2020

The decision is based on the Law of Infectious Diseases Control issued by Royal Decree No. 73/93, and in continuation of the preventive measures taken by the government to address and respond to the outbreak of acute respiratory disease such as coronavirus.

Based on the public interest the following circular is issued:

  1. Do not allow health workers to go out on regular holidays except for extreme necessity.
  2. Non-marketing of any product or commodity that is not scientifically proven and not licensed by the competent authority, and adherence to not raising the prices of medical products.
  3. Urging the persons to be quarantined, domestic / institutional, or isolating them to abide by all instructions issued to them, and to avoid public places and places of worship.
  4. The specialists should follow up the implementation of the provisions of this resolution, each within its jurisdiction, and take all necessary measures to implement it.

The decision clarified that legal procedures will be taken against anyone who violates a provision of this decision, without prejudice to any more severe punishment in the Penal Code or any other law.
