Ministry of Labour discusses expat replacement plans in private health institutions

In a joint meeting headed by His Excellency Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for work and other personalities. The Ministry of Labour, on Monday, has discussed replacement plans and subcontracts with private health institutions.

A statement issued online by Ministry of Labour said, ”The Ministry of Labour organized a joint meeting headed by His Excellency Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for work, and in the presence of His Excellency Reda bin Jumah Al Salih, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Mazen bin Jawad Al Khabouri, Director General of the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions in the Ministry’s General Office with the directors of human resources of the private health institution to discuss a number of special issues and challenges facing this sector.




The statement completed, ”His Excellency Sheikh Nasr Al Hosani discussed during the meeting the importance of activating replacement plans for health institutions and participating in providing job opportunities for the national workforce, and he called on institutions to cancel contracts for the employment of the non-Omani workforce subcontracted and not to work with them, which will contribute to providing job opportunities for job seekers in the future.

H.E Al Hosni confirmed that, ”The origin of the job is for Omanis and the exception is for expatriates.”

“His Excellency Sheikh the Undersecretary indicated that the Ministry is ready, in cooperation with the competent authorities in the Ministry of Health, to provide training and qualification opportunities for the Omani workforce on the job to provide a trained and qualified national workforce in preparation for their replacement of the expatriate workforce,” the statement added.

H.E Al Haosni confirmed also, ”The Ministry works in coordination and cooperation with all government agencies supervising some economic sectors and various sectors to begin procedures for replacing the expatriate workforce with Omani cadres.”
