Mwasalat new route starting August 3: Line 9 (Azaiba – Al Ansab – Misfah Industrial Area)

Mwasalat has announced the launch of a new route (Line 9 Azaiba-Al Ansab-Misfah Industrial Area) starting on Friday, August 3. This is part of the company’s efforts to expand the public transport network in Muscat governorate to promote the culture of using buses by providing a means of transportation with ease.

The new line will be a link between a number of vital areas in Muscat including most important commercial centres and industrial institutions.

The new route will be: Azaiba bus station – Southern Azaiba – Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque – Oman Avenues Mall – Muscat Grand Mall – Panorama Mall – Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex – The Royal Hospital – Al Ansab – Falaj al Sham – Al Awabi – Misfah Industrial Area. Then, the bus will return on the same path to the starting point.

Buses on the new route will operate daily at a frequency of every 30 minutes from 6am on weekdays and public holidays.

Passengers arriving from Ma’abela or Ruwi on Line 1 can get off at the Ghubra pedestrian bridge, then take the bus on Line 9 and go to Al Ansab. Passengers coming from Al Khuwayr on Line 8 can get off at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, then take the bus on Line 9 and go towards Al Ansab. Passengers coming from Bausher on Line 12 can get off at The Royal Hospital or Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex and then take the bus on Line 9 and go to Al Ansab.

More than 2.5mn passengers on all routes within Muscat and foreign routes have been transported to the various governorates of the sultanate during the first half of this year at a rate of more than 14,000 passengers per day.

The bus transport within the city has been specifically designed to meet the specifications of the nature of the roads in the sultanate and is characterised by low cost in terms of fuel and maintenance and the ease and speed of boarding the buses. In addition to providing free space for families and women as well as transportation services for people with special needs, free Wi-Fi is available on all buses.

Mwasalat calls on everyone to use public transport buses because of its economic, social and environmental importance.
