In recent years, Oman has transitioned to an electronic system for obtaining Police Clearance Certificates. This modern approach allows individuals to apply for and receive the certificate online, using the Royal Oman Police’s official website or dedicated application. This digital transformation has streamlined the process, making it more convenient and efficient for both citizens and residents of Oman.
The Oman Police Clearance is an essential document for those who plan to work, study, live, or engage in various legal activities within Oman or abroad. It helps authorities and organizations ensure the safety and security of their operations and communities by verifying an individual’s criminal background.
How to obtain Oman Police Clearance?
If you are an expatriate currently residing in Oman, you have the option to visit the Police Clearance Office situated in Qurum. You can easily find the office location on the map provided below. Upon arriving, approach the reception desk where you will be requested to present identification documents, such as your passport and resident card. After confirming your records, you will be required to pay a fee of 20 Omani Rials. Once the payment is made, they will promptly print the certificate for you. – This is base from my recent experience.
Since ROP transitioned to an electronic system, you have also the option to get your police clearance via the ROP app or ROP website.
Requirements when using the ROP app or ROP website
Citizen or foreigner inside the Sultanate:
- Activate Mobile PKI SIM card for the applicant in case of login by PKI in ROP mobile application.
- Active mobile number to recevice the OTP for mobile appliction login in case the citizen is outside the Sultanate
For foreigner outside the Sultanate of Oman:
- The applicant must be outside the Sultanate.
- Provide the last passport which used to enter Oman and the civil number that was issued to by civil status during the period of residence in Oman.
Procedures
Citizen or foreigner inside the Sultanate:
Request new certificate on (ROP Mobile application) :
- Login to ROP mobile application by PKI or OTP
- Choose document services, then choose certificates, then click on request a new document
- Fill in the application data fields and submit the application.
- The request details, service fees and the option to start the payment process are displayed
- After the successful payment , the electronic copy will be sent to the applicant’s email automatically (according to the email entered in the application form).
Certificate resend on (ROP Mobile application) :
- Login to ROP mobile application by PKI or OTP
- Choose document services, then choose certificates, click on the certificate to resend it .
- The beneficiary confirm or edit the e-mail and then press the resend button, the applicant’s e-mail automatically (according to the entered e-mail)
For foreigner outside the Sultanate of Oman:
- Enter the service link form the top of that page – https://www.rop.gov.om/OnlineServices/eCertificates/
- Fill out the online application form with the required data
- The request details, service fees and the option to start the payment process are displayed
- After the successful payment , the electronic copy will be sent to the applicant’s email automatically (according to the email entered in the application form).
