A fine of OMR100 will be issued against parents who leave children under 12 years of age unsupervised in public parks, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources has said.

According to the ministry, Article 5 of the Regulation for the Protection of the Public Utilities of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources states: “Children under the age of 12 years shall not be left without supervision while in public parks or playgrounds and parks.”

“Any person who contravenes this Regulation shall be punished by a fine not exceeding OMR100, and the penalty shall be doubled in case of repeated violation, with the violator being obliged to [pay for damages] to the place, at his expense,” the law adds.
