Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are under quarantine and have tested negative of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) are urged to register in a portal designed to organize their flight back to their provinces, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said on Wednesday.
OWWA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said the online registration through uwianna.owwa.gov.ph, aims to fast track transportation arrangements for Filipino workers.
“It’s a registration procedure for those with negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results and are in OWWA quarantine facilities for faster arrangement of their transportation back to their homes,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook account.
Cacdac added that this measure will help them in grouping OFWs based on their destinations and to identify the hotel they are staying in.
“For faster booking of charter flights, and to group them based on the areas they are headed to. The purpose of this is to expedite the process,” he said.
OFWs qualified for registration should be included in the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) list of OFW repatriates with negative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests and are in a hotel provided by the OWWA.
Cacdac said the portal launched on Wednesday is currently undergoing pilot-testing.
“Please also give us this entire day to go through a pilot-testing phase of the portal. But feel free to already use it and register,” he said.
Cacdac assured OFWs that they are in close coordination with the Philippine Red Cross for their test results.
