Repatriation of Filipino Nationals in Oman due to COVID-19 Pandemic


The Philippine Embassy in Muscat, Oman have issued an advisory PR-35-200 dated May 22, 2020 regarding the repatriation of Filipino nations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The advisory read as follows:

The Philippine Embassy informs all the Filipino nationals in the Sultanate of Oman affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that requests for repatriation assistance is subject to the following:



1. For OFWs who were displaced/terminated due to COVID-19

The employer is responsible for the repatriation of the  OFW to the Philippines. The OFW is requested to coordinate with the employer for the purchase of the plane ticket and compliance to exit procedures, including the cancelation of the employment/residence visa.

If an OFW has pending salary/gratuity/benefits the appropriate complaint may be filed with the Oman Ministry of Manpower (MoM). The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO- Muscat) may assist you on this matter.

If the OFW will be paying for the repatriation costs, he/she is advised to coordinate with the employer to finalize the immigration exit procedures.

2. For holders of tourist and family visit visas affected due to COVID-19

You, your family and/or your sponsor is responsible for   your repatriation to the Philippines.

3. For those with absconding cases, unpaid overstay penalties, and other issues that may hinder the immediate repatriation from Oman




The request for repatriation will be evaluated on a case-to-case basis and may be subject to the settlement of any pending case before Omani authorities.

The Philippine Embassy shall proceed with the repatriation once the appropriate clearance is obtained. Funds may be made available by the Philippine government upon its due evaluation of the merits of the case.

Please fill-up the Request for Assistance Form detailing the circumstances of the case and email it with a copy of your passport/ residence ID and other pertinent documents to muscat.pe@dfa.gov.ph, with the subject line: REPATRIATION(name of person requesting).

4. For victims of illegal recruitment and undocumented workers

Please fill-up the Request for Assistance Form detailing the circumstances of you being a victim of illegal recruitment. Submit the form together with a copy of your passport and any supporting documents. Please email the form and other documents at muscat.pe@dfa.gov.ph, with the subject line REPATRIATION(name of person requesting).

Your request for repatriation may be subject to the appropriate clearance from Omani authorities and approval of funds from the Philippine government. The Philippine Embassy will process your repatriation once clearances are obtained and the funds for the repatriation have been approved.

As commercial international airline operations to and from Muscat is still suspended because of the COVID-1 9 pandemic, the Embassy will make the necessary arrangements with an airline company who will contact those who are qualified to finalize booking and payment procedures.

The Embassy advises all Filipino nationals requesting for repatriation that all procedures will be subject to compliance to Omani government regulations, including those that were recently issued in light of the COVID-1 9 pandemic.
