Restaurants and Customers Must Follow these Guidelines for Dine-in

As part of its efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, Muscat Municipality has issued fresh guidelines to receive customers in tourist and international restaurants.

So before you get too excited to once again indulge in dining to your favorite restaurant, kindly check first the guidelines and always keep in mind so you will have a satisfying experience.

Restaurants:

  1. Tables must be arranged in a way that they are at least 2 metres apart.
  2. Employees’ names and details must be recorded when entering and leaving the restaurant.
  3. Hand sanitizers must be provided for employees.
  4. One-time use menus must be provided.
  5. When serving food and beverages, they must be on or in one-time use cups and plates.
  6. Buffets or self-service is prohibited and condiments such as salt, pepper, sugar, mustard, and ketchup should be served in one-time use packets rather than jars or bottles.
  7. Magazines and newspapers are not allowed to be distributed in waiting areas or common areas of the restaurant.
  8. All employees must have their temperatures screened daily at the beginning of every shift, and every 6 hours after that. Temperatures must be logged and recorded.





Customers:

  1. A space of at least 2 metres must be ensured between customers in corridors and shared spaces within the restaurant.
  2. Customers’ names and details must be recorded when entering and leaving the restaurant.
  3. Tables should not have more than four people seated at a time.
  4. All customers must have their temperatures screened before entering the restaurant, and those found to have readings higher than 37 degrees Celsius will not be allowed to enter.
  5. Customers are required to wear face-masks at all times while in the restaurant, except when eating.
  6. Customers must adhere to a social distance of two metres at all times and must not touch tables, chairs, or any equipment or items other than their personal belongings.
  7. Customers must refrain from shaking hands and must ensure they cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
  8. Customers must disclose any symptoms of COVID-19 prior to being allowed entry into the restaurant.
  9. Customers must ensure that they do not linger, and leave the restaurant as soon as their service and meal is over.
  10. Customers are obliged to report any violations of COVID-19 safety and preventive measures that they witness from the restaurant itself.
