SSS members are encourage to remit contributions, pay loans ONLINE!

The Social Security System (SSS) urges its members to pay their monthly contributions or loan repayments online for a more efficient transaction.

Aurora C. Ignacio, SSS president and chief executive officer, said many members miss their deadlines due to their busy schedules, with late loan payments that incur penalties.

Ignacio said that missed monthly contributions, meanwhile, affect members’ eligibility for benefit claims.

“We encourage our members to pay their contributions and loans online to avoid these problems and have a safer and more convenient means of settling their obligations with SSS,” Ignacio said in a statement issued on Monday.

Online payments can be done through BancNet online, UnionBank online, and Globe’s GCash facility on or before the due date.

It covers self-employed, voluntary, and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Ignacio said there are 16.4 million paying members from January to September 2019, with only “a few” paying their contributions online.

“For the said period, there were only 706 employers and 10,078 self-employed, voluntary, OFW members who have used GCash. There was an increase though of 36 percent from 519 employers and 74 percent from the 5,795 self-employed, voluntary, OFWs members recorded during the same period in 2018,” Ignacio said.

How to pay online

SSS said its members who are ATM cardholders of a participating BancNet member can pay their SSS contributions through BancNet Online at www.bancnetonline.com with no required registration, no transaction fees, and no extra charges.

Employers who paid using BancNet online reached 6,295 from January to September 2019, SSS said.

Meanwhile, SSS members who have accounts with UnionBank may also pay online via SSS Hub at their www.unionbankph.com website.

SSS said a total of 46,087 employers paid through UnionBank, whether online or over-the-counter, from January to September 2019 while 19,641 self-employed, voluntary, OFWs members paid through UnionBank during the same time period.

SSS members who are Globe or Touch Mobile prepaid users and postpaid subscribers may pay their contributions using Globe’s GCash application which also allows members to pay salary loans and real estate loans.

The GCash application also allows OFW members to pay for their Personal Equity and Savings Option (PESO) Fund contributions.

“To pay for their contributions, members need to generate first their Payment Reference Number (PRN) at the My.SSS website for the real-time processing of contribution payments,” SSS said.
