Suspension of Manila Domestic Flights from August 4 to 18, 2020

Local carriers Cebu Pacific (CEB) and Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Monday night announced the cancellation of their flights to and from Manila from August 4-18, in line with the government’s decision to revert the National Capital Region and neighboring provinces to the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status during this period.

CEB, however, said that flights between Clark and Cebu, and Cebu and Davao, will both push through every Tuesday.

Affected passengers may opt for a full refund, or rebook their tickets to a new schedule within three months from the original flight, with rebooking fee and fare difference waved.

They may also opt to place the ticket value to a travel fund.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, on the other hand, said domestic flights between Clark, Cebu and Davao, as well as other areas not affected by the MECQ, will continue.

Affected passengers may also rebook, refund, or convert their tickets to a travel voucher, she added.

As of posting, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has not issued an official announcement on whether domestic flights will be allowed or not in areas under MECQ, similar to when the MECQ was first imposed.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said a meeting with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) was scheduled Monday afternoon and does not have any information yet.
