The distance from Muscat via Dakhiliyah road to Sa’ara border point is around 332km and from Sa’ara border to Dubai 130km.
The Sa’ara border point in Al Buraimi is now open for Omanis and expats, making it easier to travel to the UAE from Oman. “Both Omanis and expats planning a trip to the UAE can use this new border point, which was opened on Tuesday,” said a Royal Oman Police (ROP) official in Times of Oman.
The distance from Muscat via Dakhiliyah road to Sa’ara border point is around 332km and from Sa’ara border to Dubai 130km. “This border will make the journey easier for travellers to go to the UAE as it will have six counters both ways,” said an ROP official.
The event took place under the patronage of Dr Said Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection, who said the new border point will facilitate movement between the two countries. Major General Hamad Al Hatami, Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Customs, and a number of dignitaries were also present at the event.
“Sa’ara point is one of the most important pillars of the borders’ system in Buraimi Governorate and the community looks forward to facilitating entry and exit procedures in the Governorate,” said Sayyid Ibrahim Al Busaidy, Governor of Buraimi.
While, Ruqaya Al Yahiei, an economic researcher in the office of the Governor of Buraimi, said, “It will enhance the services provided by police. The border is considered to be the gate of Oman from the west and will undoubtedly play an important role in facilitating mobility and enhancing the economic and security aspects.”
Speaking about how the new border point will simplify travelling by roads, Hassan Elmarkaby, who is a medical representative in Muscat said, “Since it takes only an hour to get the UAE visa, it will be convenient for people to plan their trips by car as now we have access to a number of entry points.” Elmarkaby drives every other week to Dubai for meetings and conferences.
