Stranded residents in five countries will now finally be allowed to return to the UAE very soon.
The country just announced that travellers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda will be allowed back into the country starting August 5.
The move was announced on Tuesday by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).
Here are the new categories of travellers who are allowed to enter the country:
- Valid residency permit holders who have received both doses of the approved COVID-19 vaccines in the UAE with 14 days since their second dose as well as a vaccination certificate issued by approved UAE authorities.
- Medical professionals that work in the UAE, including doctors, nurses, technicians, both vaccinated and unvaccinated.
- Education sector workers, including teachers in schools, institutes, colleges and universities, vaccinated and unvaccinated.
- Students studying in the UAE, both vaccinated and unvaccinated
- Humanitarian cases that hold a valid UAE residence visa, both vaccinated and unvaccinated
- Government and federal workers, both vaccinated and unvaccinated
- Those receiving special medical treatment in the UAE, both vaccinated and unvaccinated
All those who fit into these categories will need to get approvals from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and submit documents on the website of that body.
Vaccinated travellers will need to present their approved and attested vaccination certificates by UAE authorities.
All travellers will also need a negative PCR test within the 48-hour validity window from accredited laboratories with a QR code, as well as a lab test before boarding the plane.

Travellers will also need to quarantine, PCR test upon arrival and follow all precautionary measures once they return to the UAE.
